President Erdoğan: “Some say that ‘FATIH Project has ended. Tablets won’t be distributed anymore’. It is not clear what they say is based on. Now that FATIH Project has ended, what is your explanation for the 700 thousand tablets distributed today? Also the tender of 10 million 60 thousand tablets to be delivered as from next year has been completed, it will be announced soon. What is your explanation for this?”

Distribution ceremony of 700 thousand tablets by The Ministry of National Education took place at ATO Congresium on 22nd May 2015 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The Minister of Education Nabi Avcı, Minister of Justice Kenan İpek and 3 thousand students and teachers from Ankara participated in the ceremony.

Distribution ceremonies of tablets took place simultaneously in 81 cities with the participation of teachers and students. President Erdoğan connected to the ceremonies held in Gaziantep, Samsun, İzmir and Sivas live.

“I hope that as from 2016, we will deliver 10 million 600 thousand tablets to our students in 4 years.”

President Erdoğan expressed his excitement saying that it was an extremely important day in Turkey’s educational history.

Stating that they won’t tolerate any failure in the project anymore, President Erdoğan said “ There are people who can’t get used to a giant project like this. We need to help them get used to this. Therefore we need to be determined and implement our road map successfully so that our teachers, students and their parents could say ‘yes, our country can do it, they succeeded in the implementation of interactive boards and tablets’. We have a very different perspective of the future.”

Stating that 700 thousand tablets have been delivered to students in 81 cities today, President Erdoğan noted that 737 thousand 800 tablets have been distributed so far.

President Erdoğan stated “ I hope that we will deliver 10 million 600 thousand tablets to our students in 4 years. Related tender has been closed and it’s results will be announced soon. After this stage, Turkey will manufacture tablets for inside and outside the country and it will be both a base and an implementation field for the informatics technology. We will not only become a market but also the base of this field.”

We have been establishing a very solid and high quality infrastructure”

Wishing good luck to teachers and students with the tablets, President Erdoğan stated “ I hope that these tablets will bring good research opportunities and services for our people and country. We are establishing a solid and high quality infrastructure.”

Pointing out that tablets are manufactured in Turkey with domestic designs and are superior to the ones in the market, President Erdoğan stated “ With Fatih Project, we don’t only offer tablets but also interactive boards, multi-functional printers, fiber optic internet connection. Particular educational contents are created for each subject complementing this infrastructure. Classes become easier to understand and more fun. I believe that these studies will be completed as soon as possible and be offered to students.”

Reminding that free course books started to be given to students during his presidency, President Erdoğan highlighted that it is an indicator of the importance given to the education. He also said “ In the past, you couldn’t find the course books let alone finding them ready to use.” He pointed out that they have changed so many things during this period.

“Use tablets for the suitable purpose”
President Erdoğan said that youth will grow and enhance the new Turkey therefore they aim the years 2023, 2053 and 2071. He said that the first point which is 2023 is the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. He stated that they aim 500 billion dollars exportation and 25 thousand dollars per capita by then.

He said that there won’t be any developments without these goals. President also said:
“New Turkey is the future having it’s roots in the past. It will be built by the generations embracing their history, culture, beliefs and values. That’s why we will keep working with all opportunities to enhance the quality of education and broaden our horizons. What I want from you is to use these tablets and internet suitable for the purpose. As mentioned by The Minister of National Education, Nabi Avcı you shouldn’t get lost in the virtual world of computers and get away from the real world, your school, your teachers and especially your books. What really matter are paper, book and pencil. What really matters is teacher and what s/he gives you, knowledge. Technology, computers and internet are only supplemantary educational tools.”

After his speech President Erdoğan handed tablets to 22 students and 11 teachers from 11 schools and had a photo taken.

Noting that Movement of Enhancing Opportunities and Improving Technology (FATIH) Project has been continuing to serve, The Minister of Education Nabi Avcı stated “This project is a national project of which every citizen who can think sanely be proud. It is one of the most concrete indicators of new Turkey.”
Expressing that Fatih Project was launched to serve for the opportunities offered by educational technologies for the use of schools, classrooms, teachers and students , Mninister Avcı said “This project has reached another cornerstone with this ceremony. The apple of our Ministry’s eye, this project will be continued faster.”

“While others talk, we do”
“Started during the presidency of Erdoğan, Fatih Project has a great vision and is a great educational movement” said Avcı. Then he said:

“The quantitative results of this project has made Fatih Project the greatest educational technology investment in the world. 200 thousand interactive boards, broad band high speed internet infrasrtructure being installed in 310 thousand classrooms, 30 thousand multi-functional network printer being delivered, 1 million 437 thousand tablets that we delivered so far has brought Fatih Project in as a desired and followed project in the world. While many countries in the West are in the beginning of the use of educational technologies, we improved greatly with this project, which shows the power Turkey has gathered recently. As you can see while others talk, we actually do.”

Minister Avcı stated that tablets delivered are planned to be used in the classrooms and manufactured with superior features.

Stating that softwares developed and contents created will give opportunity to teachers for teaching with tablets and interactive boards, Minister Avcı said that Turkey has one of the greatest educational portals in the world which is Educational Informatics Network (EBA).

He also said that the number of the digital content open to use of teachers and students on EBA is more than 150 thousand. Hs stated “We plan to increase the number of contents in the content pool with the participation of teachers in the process of content creation with the help of electronic course content creation. With this work we started, Turkey will become the leading country which exports electronical course contents. “

He also stated that the people in the future will remember President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the rest as people who changed the history of education in Turkey greatly. He also wished good luck to teachers and students with tablets.

Minister Avcı said to the students who received tablets “ Be sure that these devices are given to you with good intentions. In this respect, please don’t forget that your tables are educational tools such as your notebooks and pencils. I am sure that you will benefit from these gifts given by your country to you, we have faith in you.”
Tablets were manufactured with 100 percent domestic design

The tender of 700 thousand tablet purchase foreseen in the budget of 2015 for The FATIH Project in Education has been completed by the General Directorate of Innovation and Educational Technologies and the contract has been signed. After the completion of the manufacturing, tablets have been dispatched to the cities.

Tablets will be given to 700 thousand 9th grade students and teachers studying in thousands of high schools equipped with fiber infrastructure and interactive boards with no cost.
Tablets to be delivered were manufactured with 100 percent domestic design. Tablets have 8 core processor and 2 gigabyte RAM, 2 megapixel front camera and 5 megapixel back camera. They have 1920X1200 resolution and 32 gigabyte internal storage and 10,1” screen. Tablets also have EMP pen feature. Manufactured with resistant to cracking, Gorilla Glass tablets provides students with the opportunity of writing and taking notes on a screen.
Tablets are resistant to cracking from 70 cm, thinner than 9 mm and lighter than 600 gr. While they has warranty of 2 yeards anywhere in the world, sets purchased by MEB will have 4 years warranty including the battery. Students will also receive a tablet case.

Tablets will be delivered with many useful apps, softwares and Educational Informatics Network (EBA) installed. Also, this year interactive classroom management software which enables teachers to teach with interactive boards, share tests, tasks and projects with students is also installed to the tablets.

All tablets delivered will have access to wireless internet. Students will be able to connect to internet whenever and wherever with the secure internet procedure offered by MEB.

Nearly 200 thousand interactive boards have been installed

FATIH Project consists of the world’s biggest educational content portal in k12 level EBA, interactive boards, fiber optic internet infrastructure, internet access and tablets. Nearly 200 thousand interactive boards have been installed within the project. Tenders of 310 thousand classrooms’s fiber optic internet infrastructure have been completed and 30 thousand schools have been equipped with multi functional network printers. Enabling every school’s access to internet with ADSL, Uydunet, Ministry of National Education provides access to broad band high speed fiber internet (VPN) to schools installed with fiber infrastructure within FATIH Project.

On the instructions given by The Minister of National Education, Nabi Avcı The General Directorate of Innovation and Educational Technologies will deliver these tablets to all teachers and students particularly 9th grade students.
